About the Artist: The multi-talented George Fotiadis, aka Basement Freaks, has been successfully churning out track after funky track for over ten years now with releases on labels such as Jalapeno, Goodgroove and Wack. His music has a great live sound to it which is quite probably down to the fact that he can play the guitar, bass and drums.

After more than 10 successful vinyl releases, 2 full albums and DJ performances in almost all European countries the Basement Freaks sound gets in the map of the global underground Funky Breakbeat scene.

2010 was a breakthrough year for George”s musical career. First up was an album titled “Debut” as Smokey Bandits, which was a big hit in his native Greece and received plaudits around the world. Dedicated by George to his late father it was a collaboration with Dimitris Nassios and allowed George to hone his already tight production skills. 2010 also brought three vinyl releases as Basement Freaks on Jalapeno & Breakbeat Paradise Records. These releases received strong reviews in MixMag & I-DJ Mag and got massive support
from the biggest names in the Funky scene worldwide as well as these physical releases the hardest working man in funk released 4 digital ep’s on his own Bombastic Jam label.

That would be enough for most people but in 2010 George also released 15 remixes for labels like Jalapeno / ESL / Air Recordings /The Pooty Club and of course Bombastic Jam. This year Basement Freaks has performed in various venues around Europe with the highlight being the gig at the legendary Fabric Club in London on 26 of March!

In 2010 The Basement Freaks project with the 2 vocalists Georges Perin & Jazzmin performed live for the first time as a soundsystem at Reworks Festival the 17th of September and during the summer of 2010 finished the recordings and production of their album “Something Freaky“ which will be released on 31 Jan 2011 by Jalapeno Records. Something Freaky made a huge impression on Nu Skool Breaks Pioneer Rennie Pilgrem who declared it his secret weapon in I-DJ mag as well as giving it a storming review, played it during a guest mix on Radio 1 and bigged up the band in his interview for Knowledge Magazine!
